Holiday Tip #4 – How to Get Free Internet at Starbucks
[EDITOR’S NOTE: WiFi is now free at all US Starbucks locations…but keep reading for other benefits of using a Starbucks gift card!]
Dear Right Way to Travel Reader,
If you have an iPhone, you already get free WiFi at participating Starbucks. If you don’t, here’s another way you can get free internet…
Anyone that registers a Starbucks gift card online can use that gift card to get two free hours of internet access per day at any Starbucks location with WiFi service. That means, in addition to buying gift cards for friends and family members this holiday season, you should buy one for yourself and then go online to register it.
Registering your card is easy (and free). Just go to Starbucks.com and click on “Starbucks Card Rewards” in the “Quick Links” list on the left. Then click “Join Rewards Today.” The next screen will ask you if you want free WiFi or if you don’t. You, obviously, want the membership rewards program that includes WiFi. So select that. Then sign up.
You’ll be asked for details about your card, including the number on the back and the pin which usually has to be scratched off the back of your card. Once you put those details in, you’ll create a website log in for yourself. You’ll never be asked for your credit card details as it’s free to register. The only qualification you must meet to gain free WiFi internet access is that you must use your card at least once a month.
Here’s what else your registered gift card buys you…
* Refills on Brewed Coffee
* Beverage customization — meaning you can add flavored syrups free of charge
* Free beverage with purchase of Whole Bean Coffee
