It has been almost 10 years since I started my first blog.

Early on, it was a day-to-day account of my activities, focusing on my favorite recipes and daily workouts. I even recall including tiny pictures on my very clunky website of delicious meals that tasted great, but looked much more like I was taking pictures of cat food and posting it as my own.

Fast-forward to now almost a decade later and, while I still have some of those early posts saved as memories, my blog has catapulted itself to becoming my full-time career.

Authentically sharing with a very real community of readers about my life, my favorite product and service recommendations, and ways that I’ve become an empowered businesswoman in a fast-paced market has become more than just another job that I’m passionate about — it has become one of my favorite ways to connect with the world.

So, if you’ve made it this far in your self-debate about whether to start a blog, then I encourage you to take the next step and DO IT.

Whether it’s a hobby that you maintain for a few months, or something that overwhelms your life with happiness for years to come, starting a blog is something that I would recommend to everyone I meet.

Blogging makes you a better writer.

Jerry Seinfeld used to make a calendar in his home listing every single day in the year, and on the days that he practiced writing in any way, he wrote a big, red “X” on that day to mark it off.

It was a visual reminder of what many of us know—the more you practice something, the better you become.

Your blog holds many of your favorite memories in one place.

I love using my blog to highlight some of my favorite memories.

Your blog can hold your favorite travel experiences, the shops where you found an outfit you feel great wearing, or anything else your heart desires, all in one place with a user-friendly “search” button attached.

And remember, it doesn’t need to be perfect to start. You can always adjust your content or website design later as you grow and change.

Don’t let perfection become a form of procrastination. Just begin.

Blogging can open your world to new opportunities, new ways of thinking, and so much more. I can’t wait to see the wonderful content you put out into the world.
