Each for different reasons, but photographically, I like the lighting, composition, and expression of this one.” STAFF PICK #2: By Bonnie Caton, Editorial Manager and Breakfast Stock Club Creator, Great Escape Publishing “This is difficult! There are so many great shots up for the Grand Prize. I especially love the orange daisy with tiny, delicate globes of water on its petals, the rocks in a soft turquoise sea, and the old post card feel of the black and white photo with the Statue of Liberty in the background. But this one is my favorite. The photographer had to wait for just the right moment on the right day, and he or she also had to set up a tripod and use a longer exposure to get the soft water effect. Nicely done!” STAFF PICK #3: By Jackie Gray, Marketing Manager, Great Escape Publishing “Sunset and sunrise photos tend to be a little cliché, but by adding people into this shot, the photographer makes this one unique. And also creates a story. I love photos that evoke emotion. You don’t need a caption to understand that these two love each other.” STAFF PICK #4: By Christina Merchant, Product Manager, Great Escape Publishing “After living in both Paris and New York City, this photo seems to be a perfect combination of the two cities. While the photo is clearly taken in New York, something about this shot has a very classic, timeless feeling — much like Paris. It could almost just as easily be taken along the Seine River. I love the dark silhouettes placed against the white sky.” STAFF PICK #5: By Audrey Hartland, Great Escape Publishing “There were a lot of great pictures this year, but this photo really stood out. As a resident of Washington, D.C., I see the Capitol building and photographs of it all the time. But this photographer used a really interesting and fresh perspective on the iconic building. The reflection is crystal clear and the juxtaposition of the regal Capitol dome on the grungy street is great.” STAFF PICK #6: By Dena Weinstein, Marketing Assistant, Great Escape Publishing “Looking at a picture likes this reminds me of the many self-taken and silly pictures my friends and I have done and still do. Any sort of graduation pictures are great because the person looking at the picture immediately thinks of their own memories and can identify with the graduate (regardless of whether it’s middle school/high school/college/masters/whatever), knowing that they are ending one phase and beginning a new phase in their life.” Tonight’s your last chance to vote for YOUR favorite photo for this year’s $2,000 Grand Prize.
