When one of our participants brought this photo to our first review with professional photographer Daniel Nahabedian, I knew we needed to back up and explain the basics of photo layering… _1130770 Now, as it turns out, the participant who shot this photo is my mom. She’s with me on this trip because out of all 112 live photography workshops we’ve held in the last 12 years, this one in Thailand is my favorite…  and I truly believe it belongs on everyone’s bucket list. But she’s also here because she wants to learn.  She’s not a good picture taker.  She doesn’t even own a camera.  She’s borrowing one of my old ones.  And, before yesterday, she didn’t even know how to turn it on. Today’s travel photo tip was perfect for her… and even if you’re already fairly versed in the art of photography, it’s always good to keep it in mind. TIP: Photos have layers This means there’s often something in the foreground, something in the middle and something in the background. The next time you’re out taking photos, give your layers some thought.  What’s going in the front?  What’s going in the middle?  And what’s going in the back? Even images that don’t seem like they have layers, often have them if you look closely… 1411_thailand-4820 1411_thailand-4925 Thinking it through when your camera is at your eye will help you remove clutter and make good choices about whether or not it’s time to snap the shutter. Clutter and distracting backgrounds are some of the biggest photo killers when it comes to sales. Tune in tomorrow for some advice on tripling your income with photos that don’t have these income killers. Share on Facebook
