Today’s Olympic Fuel travel tip is an easy way to help the environment while you’re doing something you probably already do anyway — search for bargain flights, hotels, or rental cars on Kayak.com.
Here’s how it works:
1. Start at www.GoGreenTravelGreen.com/searchgreentravel.html. From there, you can start your search for flights, hotels, or rental cars.
2. The site will redirect you to Kayak.com, which shares advertising revenue with GoGreenTravelGreen.com as long as you start out on their special site.
3. GoGreenTravelGreen.com then gives half of the ad revenue from your search time to environmental organizations listed on its site.
Just by searching, you’re donating. You don’t have to buy anything.

P.S. It’s easy to be a green travel writer, too, by using the web to read through travel magazines’ online archives. There, you can read past issues to get a feel for a magazine’s style and to see if it recently covered the topic you want to write about.
The web is a great place to search for niche markets, too. One of the highest-paying of those is airline in-flight magazines.
Warning: Most airline in-flight magazines are published by ad agencies rather than the airlines themselves so it’s hard to find writer’s guidelines online. If you look and you have a hard time finding one that fits the destination you’re writing about, you might consider picking up a copy of our Breaking into In-flights Program where we’ve done the research for you.
