Holiday Travel Tip #7: Cross-pack with a Travel Companion
As the luggage carousel goes round and round, you get that sinking feeling: Where’s my bag?
Every year, one in 150 people lose their baggage on an airline. While you can’t completely ensure your luggage will touch down in your destination city with you, you can help your odds by cross-packing.
It’s simple. First, pick a travel buddy. Then, while you’re packing, set out everything you plan to bring. Give half of it to your travel companion, and take half of their load. That way, if either of your bags disappears into the great unknown, you’ll still have half of your belongings.
And here’s another tip…
Fly first class. Gate agents tend to let first-class passengers board and stow more carry-on items than coach passengers.
