You know you’ve arrived when you go to dinner at your mom’s house and spot your stock photo in use…on her back doormat! Now normally, my mom isn’t into decorating her house with dungeon and prison themes.  But when she saw this doormat at Bed Bath and Beyond, she knew right away she had to buy it. Because there it was, plain as day, the photo I took of a door in Normandy, France, turned into a “Dungeon Doormat” on sale at one of the largest department stores in the country. stock photo in use It was fun to hike to the top of Mont-St-Michel in France with my camera, hunting for photo opportunities. It was fun to find this door and line up all the spikes just right in the photo. It was also fun to get the photo of that door accepted into a stock agency… and even MORE fun when I started collecting income from it. Here’s the original: No Escape To see it used on doormats at Bed Bath and Beyond was a pleasant surprise. But by far the best part — the part that made me keel over with giggles — was to find the photo I took on a misty day in France… right there at my mom’s back door. Everything had come full-circle to land back at my childhood home — the place I first knew that I wanted to do something fun and unconventional for a living. Now it’s your turn.
