If you’re traveling in the U.S. this season, here’s an easy way to research a travel destination and score a discount at the same time…

Step 1. Go to Groupon.com/learn and click on “visit more cities,” at the top. Also go to Livingsocial.com/cities.

Step 2. Find the city where you’re traveling or a nearby city if you plan to make a side-trip. Then, click on the name of the city to go to its daily deal page.

Step 3. Here, you can either sign up for the newsletter and receive a new deal on a restaurant or service each day in your in-box… or click on “today’s deal” to see the daily discount.

I knew I’d be in Delray Beach this weekend for our Ultimate Stock Photo Workshop, so last week I subscribed to both the Living Social and Groupon sites for Palm Beach County.

Since then, I’ve found all kinds of good stuff, from Segway tours to a lion safari to spa services, movies, ice cream, haunted attractions, and more.

You usually have a year to use the coupon, so you can research a destination and stock up on coupons before you go… then, you’ll have a list of new restaurants, bars, hotels, boutiques, and other places to check out while you’re there, too.

Groupon.com has a large selection of deals in foreign countries — though they’re in the language of that country, so you may need a translator.

Tomorrow I’ll send you some lesser-known travel bargains that you may not know you qualify for.
